What are Religious Rituals?

What are the different forms of ritual in the various world religions?

That's the topic of this fascinating PBS Religion and Ethics Newsweekly Report.

The Newsweekly aired its last report in February but has been running highlights from their twenty years of broadcasting.

This five minute clip about rituals is one such highlight. It's terrific and I think it might work as a great introduction in my world religions elective when we cover the elements of religion. Students might note on a chart the different rituals reviewed like pilgrimage, the whirling meditation of Sufis, rites of passage, washing rituals, healing rituals, and death rituals.
